Poster Design
- A design doesn't have to strictly follow rules to be good
- Some good designs ignore one or more principles to create an eye catching work
7 principles of poster design -
- Principles of design are the rules a designer must follow to create an attractive and effective composition.
1. Emphasis
2. Balance and Alignment
3. Contrast
- creates space and difference between elements in the design
4. Repetition
- unifies and strengthens design
5. Proportion
- visual size and weight of elements in a composition / how they relate to eachother
6. Movement
- controlling the elements in a composition to lead the eye and communicate info to audience.
7. White space
- deals with specifically what you don't add - the empty space around elements.

[Part 1] - WEEK 6
- Choose topic
- Gather all info about topic
- Write Summary about topic
Chosen Topic:
Renewal of Life : Return Contemplate, human beings' relationship with all things.
- I interpret this topic, as the title suggests, as a reflection of the connection between humans and everything else from the past and present in the world, and how the cycle of life is everlasting.
Info
Theme : Renewal of life: Return Contemplate, human beings' relationship with all things.
Category : Magic Lock Screen (Square & Vertical poster only)
Title : It’s their world, we’re just living in it
Summary :
This concept is a reflection on humans’ relationship with the rest of the world, and the impact we have on / our place in the everlasting and continuous cycle of life; whereby we should reconnect with all of the worlds’ life and what it has to offer by retouching on sustainability practices and enforcing a deeper-rooted relationship with the world we live in; not the world that lives for us. This design will focus on the newfound relationship and correlation humans have with all other types of life / things in the world, by using digital collaging effects, typographical / visual elements and techniques.
Mood Board (3 Poster Reference)
Moodboard #1
- Reflects collaging of nature & humans in a natural state- incorporates hints of man-made items to amplify the expression of connecting nature with us
Moodboard #2
- Utilises man-made structures to incorporate the renewal of life aspect into the composition
- nature takes over the structures we know today, to reflect how we should connect and integrate nature back into our lives.
Moodboard #3
- Inspired my mandalas & mosaics
- Would include scraps / photographic elements to compose a mandala or mosaic which would reflect human and nature's relationship, and what I interpret it to be.
- Would use many different components to make up the full design.
