Project 1 | Website Redesign

For our first project, we had to create a proposal for a re-design of a "badly designed" website of our choice. The website I chose is Toronto Cupcake; https://www.torontocupcake.com/index.html, which features a relatively outdated and poor design, giving me material to work with to create a better and enhanced redesign.

Reflection

Experience

My experience for this first project was good overall. Having analysed web designs prior helped with this assignment but I also got to learn about more aspects of web design through having to think about redesigning one myself. There is actually a lot of things to think about, and I don't think this project could have fit them all. Choosing Toronto Cupcakes as my website to redesign was tough but I actually enjoyed redesigning a cupcake brand and I thought it was quite fun.

Observation

I have learned quite a few things from this task and have observed how much consideration goes into the redesigning of a website. I noticed that target audience is probably the most important aspect when redesigning or just designing a site as they determine how your website is ultimately going to look like, and that there are a lot of ways to make a website look unique and memorable, while staying user friendly / usable.

Findings

I have found that Interactive Design is not to say a time consuming module, it is just that my time management was not the best however and I hope to improve for the next project. I have also found that there are several and different meanings as to what makes a web-design 'bad', and will take that knowledge with me when analysing more websites.

- Thank You -
