Documentation
Being a submission for the HONOR competition, we just had to provide a moodboard and rationale for documentation.
Sketches -
- Created a composition involving endangered species colliding and coexisting together to represent my theme "Renewal of Life", where it advocates the saving of these endangered animals for the betterment of our environment.
- Utilised the Golden Ratio to create a compelling composition.
Final Output
The final output for this task is an animated illustrated composition for the HONOR Competition, as well as accessories.

Besides that, we have learnt recently in a tutorial on how to use pattern brushes, add texture, etc, and so I applied that to my coral, where I applied a grain texture using the grain effect as well as a gradient, as seen in class.
Animating
We were taught how to use After Effects, and how to use the tools inside, and so I used my knowledge from there to animate my elements;
- Pin tool
Self Reflection
This task was very interesting, as I had never used After Effects before, and so it was interesting to learn and find out how to use it. I have always seen videos and edits made using After Effects, and I have finally got the opportunity to try it out for myself. There is a lot of things to explore there, however for this task we just learned the basics, which was enough for how we had to animate our composition, and the pin tool is super helpful it is my favourite thing ever, however you have to prepare your layers beforehand to use it the most optimally.
My favourite thing about this assignment was creating the composition, as I enjoyed drawing the nature and animals, and it is a new subject for me to draw (animals) so it was challenging at the same time. I also enjoyed seeing my composition come to life and see how my vision was brought together through the animation. It was a very fun and rewarding process, and I learned more about my capabilities through it.
Something I can improve during this assignment would be my skills / illustration style while drawing on Illustrator, as I have a very strong vision as to how my work should look like, and I know I can replicate it on a software I'm familiar with, or on paper, however using Illustrator posed as a problem and restriction for me, which is on me, and I should take more time to learn how to use it to its fullest for me to showcase my abilities best.
