PART 1 : Collages

1A: Physical Collage

This is my final and best choice out of the 3 physical collages we did, where it showcases the subject of my favourite food, where it includes layers of colourful patterns and food - specifically seafood - and a mouth. The bright colours are the element that makes this composition so appealing, and it gives off a very happy and bright effect, reflecting the effect I get when eating my favourite foods.

1B: Digital Collage

In this collage, there are visuals of trains, buildings, a typewriter, people, and a projector. My idea for this was to show how far society has come in terms of man-made objects and technology, by combining these elements together. I have chose this collage as the final out of the other 2 because I think the colours work well and compliment each other, as well as the composition being created after the golden spiral, making the subject placement very attractive and balanced.

PART 2 : Digital Imaging

2A: Digital Imaging Exercise 1

In this digital imaging exercise, we had to recolour a black and white image of an old man. I used green to compliment his warm skin-tone by creating contrast, and gave him slight blue eyes to relate to his age, as well as to pop.

2B: Digital Imaging Exercise 1

Our second exercise was to recolour images of our choice, where I chose these two women. Initially i had only done the top recolouring, which was pretty fun to do, and I got to express more on the picture without it already being there (makeup, additional colours) and so I did another one.

Reflection

Digital Photography has introduced me to many new things, like Photoshop, collaging, and creating compositions. I have enjoyed the tasks so far, and have learnt a lot about how to compose elements, use colour and advance in Photoshop. From what I have observed, photography is more than just taking photographs, and the external factors like editing are equally important to make a good and appealing photo.

During the past few weeks we focused on layering digitally and physically, and editing images on photoshop which I believe to be good introductory lessons as I've learned alot from them and how important composition and technique is when approaching these subjects. I have also enjoyed recolouring images the most; it allows me to express anything within the composition through colour.

There is also a lot of creative freedom I feel, where even when following a tutorial we get to explore for ourselves and make something we actually like, while learning about all the information necessary. However, getting familiar with photoshop was tedious and difficult, and still is - but I hope to get better throughout the weeks.
